Description

On what was scheduled to be a travel day for the National League Champion New York Mets, October 17, 1969 was a day of raucous celebration, instead. For the Mets had finished their improbable conquest the day before, disposing of the Baltimore Orioles to complete the biggest World Series upset on record. Complying with a fan’s request, skipper Gil Hodges autographed this dollar bill. Encapsulated with autograph assessed “Authentic” by PSA/DNA, the U.S. paper currency is personalized and signed in black ink (“8” strength). Along the upper border, the keepsake is dated “10-17-69.”
