In a fitting tribute to their fallen star, the Washington Senators unveiled a memorial to Walter Johnson on June 21, 1947 at Griffith Stadium. This program was issued during that weekend’s ceremonies in the Nation’s Capital. The eight-page guide presents beautifully, with covers and crisp pages intact. The thick stock center pages feature scorecards with pre-printed lineups and scoring grids are marked in graphite pencil to document a 9-6 triumph by the St. Louis Browns that earned them a split in the Sunday, June 22 twinbill. There are no vertical creases or folds, which are commonly found on stadium-issued publications of this era.
