The first-ever person to both play for and coach Rose Bowl champions, Jess Hill also had a taste of big league baseball, where he debuted in 1935 as a pinch-runner for Hall of Famer Bill Dickey and went on to hit four homers for the Bronx Bombers in limited play that season. This Uniform Player’s Contract secured Hill’s services at the minor league level for the 1932 campaign. The four-page document features printed legal details with typewritten specifics including name, year and $5,000 annual stipend. On the back page, American League President William Harridge has signed in black-ink steel tip fountain pen (“10” strength). On the third page, the signature of Yankee executive Jacob Ruppert is of the secretarial variety. Auction LOA from JSA
